![]() Red Rock Canyon, Indian Tribes and the Oklahoma La.This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. The food at Gold River is a ton better than that at Casino Oklahoma. There are many areas where steps are cut in theĬanyon wall to climb up, but way to vertical to do without Gold River and Casino Oklahoma (Hinton, OK.) are together. The trail ends at a pond created by water pouring off the end of the box canyon. Another trail in the park, the Rough Horsetail trail, goes through a marshy area covered with Horse -Tail Ferns that were used as pot scrubbers by the pioneers. ![]() I did the trail and have a hard time believing they used this as a road although in a few places the cuts in the rocks do look like wheel ruts. The California Road trail in the park follows a section of the old road where you can still see the wagon ruts. The canyon also became a landmark for travelers on the California Road during the Gold Rush days. This area once was a winter camp for the local indian tribes as it is very protected with a creek flowing through it. The canyon walls here are a popular rock climbing and rappelling site. Our destination, the Red Rock Canyon State Park, in Hinton, Oklahoma is a small park situated in a beautiful red rock canyon.
